this weekend was really exhausting but HERE WE GO super long commencement post!!

my parents got to my apartment pretty early and i started the day off grumpy and with coffee but that’s p. much par for the course

we went to the farmer’s market before commencement and scarfed down some lunch before going to line up

i was pretty nervous because i didn’t know of anyone who was graduating in the ling major other than max but it turns out some of the people i’d actually talked to in classes were also there so that was cool, and one of those people decorated her cap uwu

we filed in to the thing after that and max and i got accidentally separated which was a bummer but hey that’s what phones are for

the ceremony itself was really really boring — there were three speeches and the provost’s speech was on the big bang theory and i was so fuckin furious about it

basically i just

texted max and anna and tweeted the whole time

but then the TBBT speech started talking about star trek so i started paying attention

and then this happened

so instead of clapping i vulcan saluted and i’m sure any of the photographers behind me would have been able to get a really badass picture of me (and/or the handful of other people who also saluted) but my dad didn’t get one sigh

then someone brought out a beach ball and it was great

and then we finally started walking across the stage and i asked them to say “basia [last name]” but they said “barbara basia [last name]” and i was so angry omfg but at least i didn’t trip

we went to dinner at the czech restaurant to ~celebrate~

and after that we went to the record store where my dad had a field day and i found star trek: tmp on dvd for 8 bucks \o/

they also sell “postcards” made out of record sleeve and dvd covers that were 3 for $1 and i wasn’t going to get any until littlebro pulled out the prestige and star trek so i caved

yesterday was 100% packing and it was really stressful and really exhausting, and then the trip down to my parents’ house took like 10 hours instead of the normal ~7 it takes

i still have so much to do before i leave for study abroad but i’m really excited but also really tired wow

i’ll probably make a long text post about college later tonight or something
